At this point in time Maldivian Medical Association would like to publicly issue an alert to avoid exposure to the smoke and fumes at the affected site. Such fumes are likely to be particularly harmful to people with pre-existing lung conditions (like Asthma, etc), the elderly and the very young.
The public are urged to take heed of the advise of MNDF Fire & Rescue and Maldives Police Service and avoid gathering near the site or areas affected by smoke and fumes.
Those living in the area are alerted to keep doors and windows closed and stay indoor to avoid exposure.
MMA announces Executive Committee Elections 2016 once again . The previous announcement was cancelled because the number of applicants for the post was not sufficient to fill the Executive Committee posts.
MMA urges applicants to come forward to lead the professional body of Maldivian Doctors in to the future.

MMA in collaboration with HPA (National AIDS program) and with the support of WHO holds a CME on 1st December 2015, to raise awareness and to end the stigma at workplace towards patients and families with HIV/AIDS.
CME was inaugurated by WHO representative to the Maldives Dr Arvind Mathur.

Sessions were conducted by Dr Ali Nazeem, Clinical focal point, National HIV program. Dr Nazla Rafeeq, Head of Communicable disease – HPA, Mr. Abdul Hameed, Focal point – AIDS program
Participants from IGMH, HMH, VMH, ADK hospital were present at the program.
Maldivian doctors day is celebrated on 18th of April every year. This year also we have planned for various activities among health care providers including a Futsal, dodge ball and a hand ball tournament. The aim of all these activities is to highlight the importance of an active lifestyle , and to foster togetherness between the health professionals and supportive staff
In addition to this we have planned for a morning “bicycle buru” followed by breakfast (for health care workers and supportive staff ), which will be held on 17th April in Hulhumale. The official function to celebrate doctors day with giving away of awards followed by dinner and entertainment will be held on the 18th night.
